Stamford Works Mews detail
3ds max, Brazil r/s, Photoshop
July 2006

An enlarged detail of the Stamford Works Mews image.

An alkward shot to compose as the client wanted to portray both sides of this narrow mews, as well as the end walls in just one shot.

Lighting also became an issuse as I wanted to avoid a front lit scenario which would flatten the image and produce two large expanses of bright white wall to the flanks. I ran a few test renders to first persuade the client that mews would not look too dark or shaded and settled on a warm sunny evening scenario, that time of day when people are just starting to get home from work and kids are wanting to get back out for a game of football after their tea (tea here being the Norhern English evening meal and nothing to do with the hot drink). I then used the vehicles and characters to break up the impact of the inevitable shadow on the ground.

All modelled in Max, rendered in Brazil and then finished in Photoshop.
